Dr Mar Batista

The UK water industry: towards a resilient and sustainable future ...Dr Mar Batista is the Research and Insights Manager at Anglian Water and has been has been leading the partnership from Anglian Water since 2023. Mar is responsible for the leadership, strategic direction, and effective oversight of the delivery of Anglian Water’s research portfolio.

Mar has a Bachelor's in Agricultural Engineering by the Valencia Polytechnic University, Spain, a Master’s in Environment and Natural Resources- Sustainable Water and Sanitation, health and Development by the Norwegian University of Life Science, Norway and Doctorate in Water by Cranfield University, United Kingdom.

Mar has nearly 20 years of experience in the water sector. Before joining Anglian Water, she worked as a consultant in Spain and as Head of Programmes at British Water collaborating with UK and international water and wastewater companies, supply chain companies, government, and stakeholders across the sector. This has provided her with an excellent understanding of current and future water and environmental challenges. Mar is passionate about connecting people and ideas toward a sustainable future.

Chetna Vaghela - Anglian Water Research Coordinator

ChetnaChetna is the Anglian Water Research Coordinator (AWRC) and the co-convenor of the Water Management Option (Environmental Technology MSc programme) at Imperial.  On a day to day basis she coordinates multi-disciplinary activities between departments/industry and national/international research institutes. Further she is responsible for generating innovative concepts and proposals, liaising with private and public sector funding agencies and facilitating the enduring alliance between Imperial College, Anglian Water and other organisations. 

Professor Nick Voulvoulis

Nick Voulvoulis

Nick is a Professor of Environmental Technology at the Centre for Environmental Policy. His research on water technology, catchment management, emerging contaminants, the water, energy, food nexus and the circular economy is of relevance to the water sector. He has been leading the partnership from Imperial since 2004, when it was formally established in collaboration with Prof Steve Kaye from Anglian Water .
