About the speakers
Rylie Green leads the Bioengineering department at Imperial College London. Her research involves developing a range of innovative materials to address the limitations that hinder the development of next-generation bioelectronic devices, including pioneering work on living bioelectronics, which are designed to grow into the body. Rylie was recently awarded a £3.7m Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA) Precision Neurotechnologies grant for a project which aims to develop a new class of technology to promote neuroregeneration, neuroprotection and neuroplasticity deep in the brain where damage has occurred due to illness.
Hayriye Cagnan is an Associate Professor (Senior Lecturer) at the Department of Bioengineering of Imperial College London. Her research focuses on developing novel stimulation approaches to increase therapy efficacy and specificity. In recent years, she has been extending her work on implantable bioelectronics to wearable non-invasive stimulation strategies. She currently serves on the College of Experts for Parkinson’s UK.
Aimun Jamjoom is a Consultant Neurosurgeon and Clinician-Scientist based at Queen’s Hospital, Romford. He holds dual RCS Senior Fellowships in surgical neuro-oncology and complex epilepsy. He specialises in the surgical management of brain tumours, with a focus on intra-operative mapping for function preservation. His current scientific focus is on brain-computer interfacing and human brain mapping. He has recently won a £6.5 million Advanced Research + Invention Agency (ARIA) grant as part of its Precision Neurotechnologies programme, for a project which aims to unlock new methods to interface with the human brain at the circuit level, with unprecedented precision.
