The Hamlyn Centre is at the forefront of developing innovative yet accessible healthcare technologies that can reshape the future of medicine and expand the UK research base internationally. It links across academic departments throughout the College and has dedicated space for engineering, clinical and pre-clinical research and development. The Hamlyn Centre has a range of equipment accessible to both academic and industry organisations.

The Hamlyn Centre has a range of equipment in the following areas:

  • Multi-material, precision 3D rapid prototyping with materials ranging from thermoplastics, photopolymers;
  • Micro-machining and fabrication equipment including micro-lathe, laser profiling and fabrication platforms;
  • Micro-assembly platforms with associated microscopes and 3D imaging systems;
  • Fibre-optics and ablation laser required for robotically assisted in-vivo cellular-level optical imaging, tissue characterisation and ablation.
