Holistic consideration of energy demand of electric vehicle charging with energy use in buildings
Started: October 2016
Supervisor: Professor John Polak
Description of Research
In recent years a substantial body of work has focused on the technical challenges associated with integrating electric mobility with the energy grid, for the purposes of improved energy efficiency and grid stability. However, the scope for extending this integration to additionally include energy use in domestic and non-domestic buildings has been largely ignored. The objective of this research is to address this research gap by developing new understandings of multi-sectoral energy consumption based on disaggregate models of activity and travel behaviour and to use these models to develop new strategies for efficient cross sectoral energy management.
