Holistic modelling of evacuation in urban infrastructure systems
Started: October 2018
Supervisor: Dr Arnab Majumdar
Industry Partner: Lloyd's Register Foundation
Description of Research
The aim of the research is to assess the impact of safe evacuation following a major unexpected shock event on a city’s network. As part of this, a microsimulation model of evacuation is to be developed that reflects human behaviour, which will then be coupled with the disaster modelling and then with transport modelling. The outputs of such holistic model aims to inform the front-line operators and the first responders of the bigger picture of the impact on the city to better facilitate evacuation and other responses for major emergencies.
