PhD Position

[July-2017]

A fully-funded PhD studentship available for UK/EU/International students to work under the supervision of Prof. Esther Rodriguez-Villegas at the Wearable Technologies Lab, Department of Electrical and Electronic Engineering, Imperial College Lodon. The research topic for this PhD is part of a major EPSRC grant to support self-management of chronic conditions using intelligent healthcare technologies. The aim of this project is to create a small, light-weight, and low-cost novel wearable wireless technology to monitor patients suffering from Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease (COPD). As part of the PhD, the student is expected to set up clinical experiments, liaise with medical and industry professionals, analyse real patient data and work with this to create intelligent low-power algorithms.

An ideal candidate should have, or be about to receive, a masters degree in electrical, electronic or biomedical engineering (or related). The candidate should have very strong analytical skills and knowledge of biomedical signal processing, data analytics, and algorithm development.
