Day 1: Fundamentals
Half day 1:
- Introduction to climate change risk management
- What is climate change – the science.
- Why should we care about climate change?
- Risk management – an alignment of different approaches, and what works best for climate change risk management (inclusive of opportunity management).
- How are expectations changing regarding what is required of organisations in the management of climate change risks?
- How to set your climate change strategy.
Day 2: Fundamentals course
Half day 2:
- Recap of day 1, addressing any questions.
- Inline with requirements outlined in ISSB, TCFD and CSRD, explore how to:
- Establish the context in which your organisation operates
- Identify the risks and opportunities
- Run scenario analysis
- Identify management actions
- Form the most appropriate climate change strategy for the organisation
- Establish appropriate targets (inclusive of emissions targets) that are meaningful for your organisation
- Establish relevant metrics to monitor changes and progress
- Conclude with establishing climate change as part of the broader sustainability and ESG.
Day 1: Advanced course
Half day 1:
- Introduction to climate change risk management and why it is important.
- What are the changing requirements regarding climate change and what do we need to prepare for? Including TCFD, ISSB and CSRD.
- Case studies to show who is doing a good job of meeting the changing requirements regarding climate change risk management, inclusive of TCFD, ISSB and CSRD.
- Emissions:
- A recap of Scope 1,2,3
- The difference between Net Zero and Carbon Neutral
- Carbon trading schemes
- Carbon accounting
- Border adjustments
- Scope 3
- Question time with the leading expert on emissions
- How to report on your emissions.
- Scenario analysis – what is it and how to shape your scenarios.
Day 2: Advanced course
Half day 2:
- Recap of day 1, addressing any questions.
- Scenario analysis:
- Revisit scenarios, providing opportunity for participants to share their own scenarios.
- How to turn your qualitative scenario into a quantitative scenario.
- How to work with different functions within your company to establish the most useful scenario analysis
- Materiality – what is it (in the sustainability and financial sense) and how to establish your climate change financial materiality
- Risk appetite and tolerance.
- How to report on your scenario analysis.
- Decision making – we have done all of this work, but does anyone care?
- Insights and question time with one of the worlds’ leading experts on decision making theory and practice.
- Greenwashing – what is it, how to spot it, how to stop it.
