The College values the transferable skills gained by members of staff who are reservists and will grant paid or unpaid leave, or a combination of both. 

Leave amount

Up to 10 days’ paid leave (pro-rata for part time staff) per year 

Any further leave required can be taken as annual leave or unpaid leave.

Mobilisation

In the event that staff are called into full-time service with the regular forces to play an essential part in military operations, please see the  Special Leave [pdf]‌ policy.

Let us know

Staff who are in the Reserves or are joining the Reserves will need to provide written notification to their line manager and the Staff Hub.

Requesting service leave for duties or training in the volunteer reserve

Reserve forces training and duties 

Submit a completed Leave for public duties / service in the Volunteer Reserve Forces [doc] to your line manager at least one week prior to any duties/training for which you wish to take leave. 

If requested at short notice, less than a week, the decision is up to your line manager to approve the leave. 

Any further leave should be taken as annual leave or unpaid leave and is at your manager's discretion.

Reserve forces training and duties 

Staff are required to notify you of any duties/training for which they wish to take leave one week beforehand. 

If the leave is requested at short notice, less than a week, the decision is up you to approve or decline the leave. 

Approved leave should be updated in the staff member's TeamSeer absence management records.

Any further leave should be taken as annual leave or unpaid leave and is at your discretion.
