Your library card, username and password
If you are an Imperial student or member of staff your College ID card is also your library card. Other members are issued with a library card on registration. Use your library card to enter our libraries and borrow books.
If you leave a Library building, even if it's just to get a coffee, please take your card with you so that you can easily get back in.
All library members, who can borrow items, also have a username and password to sign in to your library account on Library Search and make requests.
- Imperial College staff and students – use your College username and password
- NHS staff - use your NHS library account username and password (issued to you on registration with your home library)
- All other members – use your barcode number and password
If you've lost your password please ask a member of library staff for help. Report lost College ID and library cards to the Library as soon as possible, to prevent unauthorised use.
Your weekly library account statement
Every Monday we send you a courtesy email summarising the items you have on loan. This will help you keep track of your loans.
Your items will be automatically renewed (unless an item is requested by another user or has reached its renewal limit). If you have borrowed an item through our Document Delivery Service, sign in to your library account to request a renewal.
We will send you a separate email when an item cannot be renewed or has been recalled, or when an item you have requested becomes available.
