2020 Monte Rosa Massif Mountaineering Expedition Report [pdf]
The aim of this expedition was for the group of four to experience high-altitude mountaineering by first undertaking an alpine training course in the Scottish Cairngorms. Then in August 2020, they embarked on tackling the Monte Rosa Mountain massif, part of the Pennine Alps on the Swiss-Italian border, with the intention of summiting more than 10 peaks above 4,000m. The expedition members felt that they developed, both individually and as a team, and acquired the skills necessary to manage and navigate alpine risks. The also tested their personal boundaries and strengthened their team spirit having negotiating the challenges of altitude and moving through extremely exposed and challenging terrain. The group also made every effort to minimise their environmental impact.
In addition to funding provided by the Exploration Board this expedition was supported by the Old Centralians' Trust.
