From mid-July to early August 2023 a group of nine Imperial students explored the fjords and mountains of Lofoten in Norway, with the objectives of tackling challenging climbing opportunities on long multi-pitch traditional routes, and developing skills in climbing, sailing, safety, and logistics. A further aim was to adopt sailing as a low carbon way to travel to their climbs. Following their venture, the group felt that they were now more competent sailors and trad climbers after the numerous hours spent sailing, climbing and practising specific techniques. They also felt the benefited from the team bonds forged during their time together.
In addition to funding provided by the Exploration Board this expedition was supported by the Old Centralians' Trust and the Royal College of Science Association Trust. The Royal College of Science Association Trust included a story about the expedition on their website.
