Developing novel therapeutic strategies through high-impact basic and translational research

The Division of Anaesthetics, Pain Medicine and Intensive Care (APMIC) brings together clinicians and scientists with an emphasis on producing high-quality, high-impact basic and translational research towards the development of novel and better therapeutic strategies.

APMIC has built strong relationships with industry, government and healthcare providers, for the translation of its research into practical applications. We have clinicians working in many hospitals in north-west London and APMIC harnesses collaboration between clinical and academic centres through the Imperial College Academic Health Science Centre. The section hosts the National Institute for Health Research clinical academic track in anaesthesia and intensive care medicine and has a large undergraduate and postgraduate teaching programme.
