The paper, Huiqiang Xie, Zhijin Qin, Geoffrey Ye Li, and Biing-Hwang Juang "Deep Learning Enabled Semantic Communication Systems" IEEE Transactions on Signal Processing, Volume 69, 2021, has been selected for the 2023 IEEE SPS Best Paper Award. This award will be announced on the IEEE Signal Processing Society website and newsletter.
Intelligent Transmission and Processing (ITP) Lab usually has several openings on post-docs and PhD students each year and hosts a limited number of visiting scholars or students. ITP Lab is focusing on machine learning for signal processing and communications. Details on the current research topics can be found here - Research topics. The applicants are expected to have a strong background in two to three areas of mathematics, machine learning, signal processing, and communications.

From the IEEE Award Committee, Professor Geoffrey Li, together with Dr Stephen B. Weinstein and Professor Leonard J. Cimini, Jr., received 2024 IEEE Eric E. Sumner Award, one of the most prestigious awards in communication science. More information can be found at Imperial Engineering News.
Professor Harald Haas visited the CSP Group of Imperial College and delivered a talk on the IPT Lab Seminar Series, entitled “Laser-based Terabit Optical Wireless Networking.”
Professor Zhi Ding, Geoffrey Li’s PhD advisor, visited the ITP Lab on 24th March 2023. In the morning, he provided a talk on “Non-Blackbox Deep Learning for Massive MIMO Wireless Communication Systems,” which inspired subsequent discussion in the afternoon at White City Campus.
Dr Hao Ye, previous member of ITP (@Georgia Tech), moved to University of California at Santa Cruz as an assistant professor from Qualcomm Inc. on 1st April 2023. More details
Professor Lajos Hanzo delivered a talk on the IPT Lab Seminar Series, entitled “Joint Sensing and Communications: Applications, State-of-the-Art and Road Ahead: Would This Become the 6G Killer Application?” Right after his talk, Professor Hanzo and audience discussed various research issues.
The aims of the seminar series are to provide a platform and a framework for the development of concepts and applications relevant to the ever-changing nature of future communications. More information

Mr Bowen Zhang arrived in London in the morning of the 17th September 2021 to join the ITP Lab as a PhD student.
Welcome to Intelligent Transmission and Processing Laboratory (ITP Lab). The lab was established in 2020 when Professor Geoffrey Li joined Imperial College London, while the lab website has just been launched on the 10th September 2021.
