The group has a well equipped laboratory with facilities for standard and non-conventional C-scan inspections at frequencies up to 100 MHz, ultrasonic materials characterisation and the generation and detection of Lamb waves in plates and pipes. We have a high precision laser interferometer for characterising transducer displacement or for laser generated ultrasound tests. Extensive modelling software is also avaliable for the prediction of Lamb wave dispersion curves, the finite element modelling of wave propagation and the prediction of the interaction of ultrasonic waves with multi-layered media.
In addition to state of the art ultrasonic equipment we have tools to measure magnetic properties of materials.
