All our Centre's outreach activities and material are hosted on our student-run public engagement website.
At the Centre for Doctoral Training in Nuclear Energy Futures we fully understand the importance of outreach in:
- Fostering public interest in, and enthusiasm for, nuclear energy and the STEM family of subjects more widely;
- Encourage the emergence of the next generation of nuclear scientists and engineers;
- Promote inclusivity by breaking down antiquated perceptions of who are scientists and engineers;
- Improve diversity across race, gender, disability and other protected characteristics within the nuclear sector over the next decade and beyond;
- Provide our students with the opportunity to engage with non-technical audiences and develop essential skills in science communication
We are therefore active in the creation of educational resources for school teachers, organising school visits and participating in science festivals and other public science events. We work closely with outreach and accessibility teams across universities as well as industry and government bodies to contribute to the wider mission of making science and engineering available to everyone.
