Project overview : cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) that can target the brain’s cells.
Othman Al Musaimi is a Research Associate at the Department of Chemical Engineering, under the supervision of Professor Daryl Williams. He attained his PhD in the Pharmaceutical Chemistry discipline, from the University of Kwazulu-Natal - South Africa, under the supervision of Prof. Fernando Albericio and Prof. Beatriz G. de la Torre.
His research interests cover various aspects of peptide science including synthetic methodologies, separation, purification, greening of solid-phase peptide synthesis (SPPS), and developing resins for SPPS and for chromatographic separation. Currently, he is working on developing novel separation and purification methodologies for therapeutic peptides in collaboration with Eli Lilly Pharmaceuticals. He is also the “Editor-in-Chief” for the newsletter of this collaborative work. Othman is leading a research project in collaboration with the Bioengineering Department and funded by ICL, to deliver cell-penetrating peptides (CPPs) that can target the brain’s cells.
