Department of Life Sciences
PhD applicant mentoring scheme (Enhance)
We are inviting applications for a new mentoring scheme, Enhance. The Department of Life Sciences at Imperial College London has PhD positions available as part of a new programme designed to attract outstanding Black scholars from across the world to study and work in the Faculty of Natural Sciences at Imperial College London.
As part of this initiative, the Department of Life Sciences has established a new mentoring scheme which aims to introduce potential applicants to the department, as well as pair them with a mentor who will provide guidance on how to prepare a PhD application, including CVs and personal statements, as well as providing mock interview practise. All students accepted on the Enhance mentoring scheme are guaranteed an interview for one of our PhD studentships, should they apply. But there is no obligation for any mentee to apply for one of the Department studentships.
We will accept a maximum of 8 mentees on the Enhance programme.
Students must be Black/Black mixed race and have UK Home Fee status. Preference will be given to those students who are in a position to take up a PhD in the 2022/23 academic year.
We will hold a remote information session on the Department of Life Sciences, Life as a PhD student, Careers post-PhD and the mentoring programme itself on 31st Jan at 1pm. Any potential applicants who would like to attend this session should send an email to dtp@imperial.ac.uk with “Enhance programme” in the subject line. Details on how to join the session will be sent via email.
In order to apply complete the short application form provided in the link here: https://imperial.eu.qualtrics.com/jfe/form/SV_6R7TikBrbnahZI2, explaining briefly why you want to undertake a PhD and why you think this scheme will be of benefit to you.
If you have any questions related to this initiative please contact Rozan Hamilton-Nixon (dtp@imperial.ac.uk).
