The local footer is an optional content type that can be added to your site. Positioned above the Global Footer, the Local Footer can be applied to an entire section (e.g. a whole department or research group website), and will display on every page throughout your site structure.

A Local Footer provides a useful way of communicating key contact details, important links or social media without having to repeatedly add them on individual pages. The footer helps to make your site more usable, helping visitors who arrive at the end of your page to find a relevant piece of content and continue their session on your site.

It is also useful for search engine optimisation (SEO), as search engines, like Google, are pointed towards your site's 'best' pages.

Here is a live example

An example of the Local footer is displayed at the bottom of the page (grey area). If you'd like to add one to your site please contact your Faculty Web Officer.

Plan your Local Footer content

Your Faculty Web Officer will add your Local footer to your site as a hidden sub-section below the first page on which it should appear. By default, the local footer will then appear on every page below the first page.

There are six different content types that can be added to the Local Footer, but only four of these can be displayed at any one time.

The six different content types available are:

Content type name How should I use it?
Local footer heading Adds the large heading to the left side of the local footer. This is required.
Local footer address Use to add your address to the local footer
