The Graduate School’s overall purpose is to support the provision of excellent postgraduate education and enhance the postgraduate student experience at Imperial College London. Our new 5-year strategic plan is for all members of the Imperial community and sets out how the Graduate School aligns with College strategies and how we complement and enhance provision offered by the Imperial’s Faculties, Departments, the Centres for Doctoral Training (CDTs) and Support Services.
Our plan is an evolving document and will be reviewed annually to ensure currency and relevance. It is divided into three sections, each with its own headline mission statement:
Enhancing the Postgraduate Student Experience
- The Graduate School celebrates and supports the development of a world-class experience for the College’s talented and diverse postgraduate community.
Supporting Research and Enterprise
- The Graduate School complements the research training provided to students by their academic Departments, Faculties and the CDTs and enhances opportunity for research connections.
Supporting Postgraduates to Engage with a Global Society
- The Graduate School provides opportunity for postgraduates to develop skills which enable successful global societal engagement and supports students as they transition through postgraduate education at the College.
Working within current financial constraints, our approach in the short to medium term is to extend and enhance our provision through collaboration with experts in College, strengthening our digital education and applying for external funding to support project development.
Finally, our plan has been written with the Imperial Values and Behaviours in mind, which we embed in the way we work with colleagues and students across the Imperial community and in our own team-working.
