One-day introductory masterclass

Here, you will look at the transition from GCSE to A-level.

You will attend workshops based on topics from the A-level Mathematics curriculum to support your learning. Sessions will be run by Imperial academics and students, as well as partners from MEI.

When: January 2025.

Two seven-week Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs)

These online courses have been designed to fit with the A-level Mathematics curriculum in a structured series.

Content is delivered in a variety of ways including videos, practice questions and assessments, covering a range of methods and applications. You will also receive ongoing online mentoring from current Imperial students.

When: During the spring or summer terms.

Closing one-day masterclass

This will focus on awkward and difficult topics from A-level Mathematics.

The day will include workshops supported by Imperial academics, the Imperial student mentors and external partners from MEI.

When: May 2025.

When: Autumn term or spring term. 

We are looking forward to seeing applications from students with a passion for Mathematics.

You must meet the following requirements:

• If applying for the year 12 cohort you must currently be in year 12, and if you’re applying to the year 13 cohort you must currently be in year 13
• You must be studying at least three A-levels, including Mathematics
• You have achieved at least a 6 in your Mathematics and Science GCSEs, and have completed at least 2 Science GCSEs (please note that we review academic attainment as part of our selection process, in the past most of our successful applicants have achieved at least 6 GCSEs graded 7-9 including Mathematics and Sciences)
• You are capable of achieving an A grade in A-level Mathematics, even if you may not feel certain of this
• You are willing to travel to Imperial up to two times a year on scheduled weekend dates
• You are planning to apply for university courses with a large mathematical component

This outreach programme is funded by Imperial College London, and aims to support UK state school students from backgrounds under-represented at university and Imperial. We use the criteria below to assess who is eligible to participate. The more criteria you meet, the more likely your application will be successful. 

Applications for the Y12 programme are now open to new applicants. The deadline for Applications is Tuesday 12th of November. We expect to release decisions in early December. 

Applications for our Y13 programme are now closed. 

Application process

You will need to know: 

• whether you are eligible for free school meals 
• your household income 

• whether your parents/guardians have attended university 
• your parent/guardian contact details (email, address, phone number); 
• A teacher reference contact detail (email address)
