In order to allow our students and Faculty members to learn and research to the best of their ability, we provide them with state-of-the-art facilities. The facilities that we have on offer are amongst the best in the world, which in turn attracts the best academics to our institution. The current focus of Imperial, is on providing opportunities within our facilities for multi-disciplinary research. If you would like to support our first-class facilities then please contact the Faculty of Medicine Development Team.
Below are some examples of gifts which will change the face of our campuses:
The Sir Michael Uren Biomedical Engineering Research Hub
A £40 million gift from Sir Michael Uren has enabled Imperial to construct the revolutionary Sir Michael Uren Biomedical Engineering Research Hub at its White City Campus, the College's new 25-acre research and innovation campus which is changing the face of West London. The centre houses life-changing research into new and affordable medical technology, helping people affected by a diverse range of medical conditions. Imperial's world-class engineers, scientists and clinicians work together in the new space and facilities alongside spin-out companies, helping to create a vibrant innovation district at Imperial West. The Hub also incorporates clinical areas, providing patients with direct access to innovations in healthcare. Of his gift Sir Michael said: "It is an honour for me to be able to help this great university. Medical teaching and research didn't exist at Imperial in my day, but it has evolved into an institution where the work between engineering and medicine is today one of its outstanding strengths. Imperial has always applied academic excellence for the greater good, and I am thrilled by the prospect of this Biomedical Engineering Hub doing exactly that.”

The Exilarch's Foundation
A generous £5 million gift from philanthropist David Dangoor, made through the Exilarch's Foundation, will fund a pioneering hub for collaborative multidisciplinary cancer research, support The Invention Rooms at the College’s White City Campus, and transform the heart of the South Kensington Campus. The Exilarch’s Foundation’s support will fund the development of an interdisciplinary cancer research centre in the Roderic Hill Building at the South Kensington Campus, to drive advances in cancer prevention, diagnosis, and treatment. The new facilities will form a central hub, accessible to clinicians and academics from Imperial and partner organisations, offering flexible meeting and networking space, facilities for cancer research workshops and meetings, and areas for desk-based research. The gift will also provide critical support for new educational initiatives at The Invention Rooms, Imperial’s pioneering community and innovation space at White City. Finally, the gift will help transform outdoor space in Imperial’s South Kensington campus through the development of a new plaza surrounding the Queen’s Lawn and the iconic Queen’s Tower. Stretching from the Sherfield Building and the Central Library to the Skempton and Chemistry Buildings, the Dangoor Plaza will open up the existing space to create a welcoming quadrangle which will enhance the Queen’s Lawn. The Dangoor Plaza will provide an inviting, comfortable green space with covered areas to allow for both spontaneous and planned activities for staff and students year-round.
