Pride month

Pride takes place every June and celebrates LGBTQ+ people and communities. Pride commemorates the Stonewall riots that took place in June 1969 in New York.

Pride 2024 at Imperial

This year Avi, LGBTQ+ Officer for Imperial College Union, has worked with Imperial's Digital Media Lab to produce a mini-docu series. The aim is to raise awareness around the diverse experiences of Imperial’s LGBTQ+ students. You can watch the videos below, and sign up to one of the many events taking place this month across the university.

LGBTQ+ inclusion and mental health

4 & 6 June 2024, 10.00-13.00

Online via Zoom

The course promotes an understanding of LGBTQ mental health, what’s different and why, as well as allowing you to explore nuanced inclusion topics and their connection to LGBTQ identities. It will deepen your awareness of trans issues and trans care pathways, and share examples of affirmative practice interventions and best practices.

LGBTQ+ students of Imperial - series screening

Union’s LGBTQ+ Officer, Avi, and Imperial’s Digital Media Lab are launching a video mini-series showcasing LGBTQ+ students’ experiences at Imperial. This event will screen the three videos (each 3 minutes long) and hold a panel discussion and Q&A with the student participants and production team.

No sign-up needed, just join us on the day in the Union Concert Hall.

Dress the rainbow fundraiser

17-21 June

Imperial 600 invites you to take inspiration from the Pride Progress flag and dress in colours of the rainbow across the week to raise money for Rainbow Migration, a charity that supports LGBTQIA+ people through the asylum and immigration system.

On 19 June staff and students are invited to gather on Dalby Court at 14.00 to take a photo to mark the occasion.

Imperial 600 goes to The A Show

Imperial 600 is heading to The A Show, an Asexual and Aromantic Spectrum (a-spec) cabaret night! The event takes place at Battersea Arts Centre.

The Department of Chemical Engineering has invited Stef(an) Dickers to speak about the Bishopsgate Institute's collection and how he has sought to collect the history of LGBTQIA+ in a different way.

Pride in London

Imperial College Union has 75 spaces available for students to march in this year's Pride in London parade.

Imperial 600 is also arranging a group to watch the parade together - check out their Teams site for more details.

Previous years

A range of events have taken place for Pride Month, including talks, social meet ups from Imperial 600, training sessions, and film screenings such as LIVING OUR LIVES, a journey across cultures to discover stories born from the adversities faced by LGBT+ people of the world, from director David Luis Perez Magan, Colourist in Imperial's Ed Tech department.
