Dr Roberto Trotta, Reader in Astrophysics, STFC Public Engagement Fellow, and Director of the Centre for Languages, Culture and Communication at Imperial, will be hosting a small gathering for alumni and friends on Thursday 20 October, in downtown Boston.

Dr Trotta’s research focuses on the mysterious dark matter and dark energy in the cosmos. He is an expert in statistical methods applied to big data in astrophysics and cosmology. He is a co-founder and Director of Data Fusion Consultants, a company dedicated to applying cutting-edge methods from astrostatistics to societal and business problems.

His recent works include his lauded book ‘The Edge of the Sky’, which explains the universe using only the most common 1000 words, and was described by Scientific American as “A surprisingly clear, and often poetic, primer”.
