We are delighted to announce the second STUOD Sandbox meeting to be held remotely on Friday, 3rd July. The Sandboxes are special events, set in specially equipped audio-visual rooms, among Ifremer, Imperial, and Inria with all available tools to manipulate and test ideas.
The second meeting of the Sandbox Series is devoted to examining Exemplar 1. The Programme includes:
Session I: problem formulating for Exemplar 1
- 12.00 – 12.10 Erwin Luesink on “What is thermal quasi-geostrophy and where does it come from?”
- 12.10 – 12.20 Wei Pan on “Learning from thermal quasi-geostrophy numerical implementation”.
- 12.20 – 12.30 So Takao on “Predicting the initial conditions of the L63 model using neural networks: what I have learnt so far”
- 12.30 – 13.00 Discussion on problem formulating for Exemplar 1
Session II: formulating the application
- 13.10 – 13.20 Bertrand Chapron
- 13.20 – 13.30 Ronan Fablet on Variational data assimilation revisited from a machine learning point of view A link to a preprint providing the basis for this short talk is provided here: https://arxiv.org/abs/2006.03653 A supporting animation for a first application to sea surface dynamics: https://youtu.be/fKIlVmeq9dk
