What is this event?
The purpose of the summer school is to bring together researchers from geometry and machine learning to learn from each other and work on problems on the intersection of the two fields. Machine learning techniques inspired by geometry have been hugely successful, for example in graph processing, computer vision, and shape reconstruction.
The event features talks by top researchers from both fields, a poster presentation, and a networking event. Furthermore, each participant chooses one out of 20 projects to work on in a small group throughout the week.
Who should attend?
The summer school is for junior researchers, such as MRes and PhD students. If you work in any area of geometry, such as differential geometry, topology, or geometric processing and are interested in applications of geometry to real-life problems through machine learning, then this event is for you! Conversely, if you work in machine learning, topological data analysis, or computer vision, and are interested in how mathematical theory can inform machine learning algorithms, then this event is also for you!
Through the project work, poster presentation, and networking evening participants will have ample opportunity to get to know each other and form new partnerships between theorists and practitioners in the fields of geometry and machine learning.
