Join us for a discussion on issues shaping the future of universities and how Imperial and Harvard are approaching such challenges as reaching net zero, adapting to opportunities of a post-Covid world, achieving wider participation and increased diversity in higher education, and maintaining our internationalism in an ever-changing global landscape.

President Lawrence S. Bacow
President of Harvard University
Lawrence S. Bacow is an American lawyer, economist, author and university administrator, and the current and 29th president of Harvard University. He took office on July 1 2018.
Bacow was the Hauser Leader-in-Residence at the Harvard Kennedy School of Government’s Center for Public Leadership and served as a member of the Harvard Corporation, the university’s principal governing board. One of the most widely experienced leaders in American higher education, known for his commitment to expanding student opportunity, catalyzing academic innovation, and encouraging universities’ civic engagement and service to society, Bacow is the former President of Tufts University and past Chancellor and Chair of the Faculty at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology.

Mary Ryan is Professor of Materials Science and Nanotechnology, and Vice-Dean for Research in the Faculty of Engineering at Imperial College London. She is currently the Interim Vice-Provost for Research and Enterprise.
