Imperial Lates

Celebrate the 50th anniversary of the last human footstep on the moon this festive season and explore the science above our heads at our next free Imperial Lates.

Highlights include:

  • Explore the future exploration of the moon by making your own festive lunar ornaments with illustrator Hana Ayoob and Imperial scientists.
  • Assemble a team and put your knowledge to the test with our pub-less quiz, hosted by the reigning champions of University Challenge. Have you got what it takes or will the questions go over your heads?
  • Where is the cloudiest spot on earth? Why are most images of earth on TV false? Get your head in the clouds with a recording of the Small Screen Science podcast – exploring the depiction of these fluffy sky pillows in TV and film (19.45-20.45).
  • Take your seat for a musical and scientific celebration of the mysterious and magical moons of our solar system in The Moons Symphony (18.30-19.30).
  • Make mosquito melodies and find out about how music is used by these flying bugs to woo their partners.
  • Immerse yourself in the tree canopies of Costa Rica and discover how acoustic technology has helped conserve the spider monkey.
  • Roll up for a fairground game of comet crashes with scientists who work on the Comet Interceptor mission and find out what these dirty space snowballs are made of.

Plus much more and a bar! Relax with a drink or a snack in the heart of the action.
