Our Virtual Open Day, on Thursday, 12 January 2023, 12.00-13:00, is a great way to find out more about studying MRes Biomedical Research (Data Science and Epidemiology, Evolution and Control of Infectious Diseases streams) at Imperial College’s Faculty of Medicine.
The innovative Data Science stream provides interdisciplinary training in the analysis of ‘big data’ from modern high throughput biomolecular studies. This is achieved through core training in multivariate statistics, chemometrics and machine learning methods, along with research experience in the development and application of these methods to real-world biomedical studies. Throughout the stream, you will develop communication, presentation and grant-writing skills. Students will become familiar with evaluating research reports through writing, presentations and seminars.
The Epidemiology, Evolution and Control of Infectious Diseases stream provides research-based training in infectious disease epidemiology, mathematical modelling and statistics, genetics and evolution, and computational methods. The focus of the course is interdisciplinary, with a strong applied public health element. It is aimed at students with a background in biology or biomedical science who are interested in gaining skills in quantitative methods applied to infectious disease epidemiology, as well as those with a background in mathematical sciences, physics or computing who are interested in applying their technical skills to infectious disease epidemiology.
This virtual event will include presentations from the course leaders, discussing teaching, research projects, assessments, and course delivery.
This is a great opportunity to quiz our teams and decide if this is the course for you.
We look forward to seeing you there.
