Dr Paraskevi Goggolidou received her DPhil in Clinical Laboratory Sciences from the University of Oxford and her BSc in Molecular Genetics from King’s College London. She is currently employed by the University of Wolverhampton as a Reader in Molecular Genetics. Paraskevi’s group showed for the first time that Atmin is critical for normal kidney development and presented evidence that ATMIN is a novel effector molecule in the non-canonical Wnt/PCP pathway and may mediate Autosomal Recessive Polycystic Kidney Disease, with important implications for understanding the pathobiology of cystic kidney disease. Her current research interests entail the role of modifier genes and cilia in polycystic kidney disease and this will be the focus of her seminar.
