The events of May 1968 in Paris remain symbolic for all political activists on the Left.  This work-in-progress research explores the events leading up to the ‘contestations’ (protests) of May 68 and the political and social consequences. It includes filmed interviews with militants, particularly Nicole Colas-Linhart, who was part of the Maoist group, active before and after the events of May. Her husband, Robert Linhart, was a student of the Marxist philosopher Louis Althusser at the École Normale Supérieure and part of a group of famous thinkers who questioned the politics of traditional Left-wing representatives. Jacques Lacan and Jean-Paul Sartre leant their support to the Maoist movement and many other philosophers, such as Foucault, were involved in the revolution of ideas in that period. Nicole and other political activists continue to support their ideals with publications and discussions which keep their beliefs alive.
