Training the next generation of pure and applied mathematicians, statisticians, data scientists and quantitative researchers; equipping them with the knowledge and skills for successful careers in academia, industry, financial institutions, and private and public sectors. Find out more about embarking on an MSc degree in one of the UK’s strongest and most active mathematics departments.

Join the Mathematics department at this virtual open day to explore programme content, meet the Director of Postgraduate Taught Studies, current MSc students, and ask them questions.

The Department offers four on-campus MSc courses; each programme consists of a wide selection of taught modules, together with a substantial research project, lasting 12 months (full-time) or 24 months (part-time). It also offers an online part-time MSc programme.

The department is offering the following programmes for 2025 entry:

The taught modules are designed to extend a student’s knowledge on their chosen topics significantly beyond their UG studies. The students during their MSc courses have the opportunity to work on a state-of-the art research project under the supervision of a member of staff. Most of our Mathematics and Finance students usually work on their research projects through a placement, typically in a bank or a hedge fund.

Research projects are designed to develop students’ ability to work independently on an advanced topic. The research project of our degrees provide transferable, including computational and presentation skills, that are invaluable for their future careers.

This Virtual Open Day will be hosted on GoToWebinar. If you can’t attend but would like to find out more, please register to receive a recording of the session.
