A perspective projection of a dodecahedral tessellation in H3. Four dodecahedra meet at each edge, and eight meet at each vertex, like the cubes of a cubic tessellation in E3.

Title: Compactification of Moduli Spaces

Speaker: Samuele Ciprietti

Abstract: A key challenge in the study of geometric objects is understanding their degenerations, particularly when these objects approach limits or boundary cases. In the context of moduli spaces, this corresponds to finding a meaningful compactification. In this talk, I will explore some approaches to this problem and highlight how, in certain cases, compactification is deeply connected to birational geometry.

Some snacks will be provided before and after the talk.
