Rose
MSc Climate Change, Management and Finance
I could not have made it here without their help and am truly grateful for everyone in Imperial’s Student Financial Support team.
After graduating from university in Thailand, Rose spent nearly three years working in a social enterprise and non-governmental organisation (NGO). Through her experience working with local communities and entrepreneurs, she realised the impact of climate change on small businesses. This inspired her to explore Master’s study so she could learn more about the best ways to tackle these challenges. Rose shares her thoughts on her unique course that combines climate change with business management, and how her scholarship has given her the opportunity to study abroad at one of the world’s top universities.
Applying to Imperial
As my goal was to move my career path more towards sustainability and green finance, Imperial’s MSc Climate Change, Management and Finance course was the only one I applied for because of its unique interdisciplinary approach. The course stood out to me as it integrates scientific knowledge of climate change with management strategies and financial markets, which is exactly what I was looking to learn more about.
I’ve been learning from professors and lecturers who are passionate about climate change. They always welcome questions and encourage innovation and exploration of new ideas.
When I was learning about my course, I found out that it has been developed through a partnership between the Grantham Institute and the Imperial College Business School. I knew then that I was in the right place to learn from professionals and experts in both fields.
I've also gained valuable insights into the industry through group projects that allow us to apply knowledge and look deeper into specific areas. Every week, we also get the opportunity to hear from guest speakers from various fields, who share their practices towards sustainability, providing us with a good opportunity to connect with professionals and companies.
Finding and applying for a scholarship
As a daughter raised by a single mother, studying aboard would have been impossible without a full scholarship. I searched online for relevant scholarships that I was eligible for and thankfully found the ASEAN-UK SAGE Women in STEM Scholarship, which allowed me to move to London to study at Imperial.
My scholarship application process involved two main steps. First, I had to secure an offer from an eligible course. Then, after receiving an offer, I could apply for the scholarship by completing a form and providing details about my background and motivations related to STEM fields and my passion for women empowerment.
The support from Imperial during the scholarship application process was and still is amazing.
I’ve received great advice and help from the Student Financial Support team, who assisted me with every step on my journey to coming to Imperial, from handling scholarship-related documents and coordinating with my department to booking my flight over from Bangkok to London. I could not have made it here without their help and am truly grateful for everyone in the Student Financial Support team.
My top tip for anyone looking for a scholarship would be to research the courses you’re interested in and write down a clear career plan. This will help you understand how the course and scholarship can help you in reaching your goals.

Being an international student at Imperial
Coming to Imperial was my first time studying abroad and I was pleasantly surprised to be surrounded by lots of other international students just like me. I was incredibly excited on my first day to meet new people and it felt surreal to be at one of the top universities in the world.
At Imperial, people are energetic and there are many clubs that you can join relevant to your interests. I’m super excited to be joining the Women Mean Business Club and the Social Impact and Responsible Business Club which are both student-led societies within the Business School.
Outside Imperial, I also joined the UK&I TCS Sustainathon 2024 with my friends where we competed against other university student groups to innovate and apply the knowledge I’ve learned on my course to solve real-life sustainability problems.
For anyone thinking about applying to Imperial, I say go for it! This is a place that belongs to you. You’ll meet many inspiring people and experts in various fields, who will support you to achieve your goals.
“Imperial has empowered me with more than just knowledge, it has given me the opportunity to become the best version of myself.
