Truly Resilient Timber Buildings

Within the framework of ERIES (Engineering Research Infrastructures for European Synergies), the Imperial-led project ERIES-TRUST-Truly resilient timber buildings will explore the use of inerters as seismic response control devices for rocking timber structures. This is part of a larger effort to provide seismic protective systems that reduce both structural and non-structural damage during earthquakes and is part of a collaboration between Imperial (UK), the Universidad Politécnica de Madrid (Spain), the Southern Methodist University (USA), the Universidad de Granada (Spain) and the Fraunhofer Wilhelm-Klauditz Institute (Germany). A series of large-scale shaking table tests will be conducted at the IZIIS large shaking table facility this coming year. Stay tuned!
