Reader in Energy Storage Materials Chun's research includes sustainable manufacturing technologies of energy devices (e.g. lithium ion batteries, sodium ion batteries, solid-state batteries, supercapacitors), energy materials and advanced characterisation.

David Payne: Solid State Electronic Structure Group The research group focusses on the synthesis and characterisation of novel oxide-based materials for energy applications.

Durrant Group The Durrant group is interested in the development of new chemical approaches to solar energy conversion.

Echoes Lab Led by Julie Euvrard, research in the Echoes Lab focuses on characterising and controlling charge transport and optoelectronic properties in emerging semiconductors.

Yunlong Zhao: Electrochemical and Bioelectronic Interface Group Focuses on the rational design and manufacture of novel electrochemical energy storage devices, sensors, bioelectronics, and their integration into 2D on-chip and 3D soft systems for electrochemical and physiological interrogation, and applications in sustainability, future electronics and healthcare.

Jarvist Frost The Frost Group's aim is to combine experiment and theory to develop new functional materials with a particular focus of building on top of electronic structure theory, using these standard codes to add chemical specificity to more highfalutin physical models.

Nicola Gasparini's interest lies in the fundamental and application-oriented research in lab-scale and large-area printed electronics, in particular organic and perovskite photovoltaics and photodetectors.

Heather's research is focused on the development of engineered carbon hosts for sulfur cathodes in lithium-sulfur batteries.

Heeney Group The Heeney group concentrates on the design, synthesis and characterisation of organic semiconductor materials for a range of optoelectronic applications including field-effect transistors, photovoltaic devices, light emitting diodes and sensors.

Ifan Stephens: Interfacial Electrochemistry Group Studies the electrochemical interfaces of processes involving energy storage, energy conversion and electrochemical transformations.

Mary Ryan's group is focused on understanding nanoscale materials and nanoscale interfaces in and between materials and their environments.

Aron Walsh: Materials Design Group The Walsh group focuses on the design and optimisation of advanced materials using high-performance computing.

The McLachlan group research interests are focussed on identifying, preparing and characterising electrically and/or optically active thin films, the incorporation of these materials into a variety of device platforms and characterisation of the interfaces created as these and other functional materials are combined into complete devices.

Ji-Seon Kim: Nanoanalysis Group The Nanoanalysis group studies the characterisation of advanced functional materials for high performance flexible organic and hybrid electronic devices.

Jenny Nelson's group looks at energy access molecular electronics models and simulation of organic solar cells, polymer batteries and photocatalysis.

Camille Petit: Multifunctional Nanomaterials Camille's group designs, synthesises, characterises and tests porous materials that can address separation challenges related to environmental and energy sustainability.

The Barnes group is interested in charge carrier behaviour in semiconducting materials and devices, particularly in solar cells and systems for energy conversion.

Reshma's research interests include understanding (electro)chemical reactivity at solid-gas and solid-liquid interfaces using operando spectroscopic techniques. Using such mechanistic insight, she aims to discover active, stable and low-cost catalysts for energy conversion technologies.

Magda Titirici: Sustainable Energy Materials The group's research focuses on the usage of environmentally friendly precursors and processes to obtain carbon-based materials for applications in renewable energy technologies.

Cecilia Mattevi: Two-Dimensional Materials Group The Mattevi group investigates precise synthesis of 2D materials for 3D functional printing of miniaturized devices and energy conversion applications.

Artem Bakulin: Ultrafast Optoelectronics Group The group develops state-of-the-art spectroscopy methods and applies them to understand the behaviour of molecular and nanoscale systems.
