Imperial Centre of Excellence in Quantitative Finance
A hub for research in Quantitative Finance accross all of Imperial, and a catalyst to further scale up its close ties to the financial industry.
Quantitative Finance is an inherently interdisciplinary field, shaped by the tension between developments in the financial industry and the academic research underpinning it. The latter draws on tools and ideas from many different fields, ranging from the Mathematical Sciences, Academic Finance, Physics, to High-Performance Computing.
The distinct cultures of these different fields have all played important roles in the development of Quantitative Finance. At the same time, they often impede truly interdisciplinary research that utilises different perspectives.
The Centre of Excellence for Quantitative Finance (CEQF) at Imperial College London will strengthen the ties between the leading Quantitative Finance groups that already exist within the Business School, the Department of Mathematics, the Department of Computing and across Imperial more broadly. The centre will also serve as a gateway to build on and further scale up the close ties to the financial industry in the City of London.
The CEQF will pursue the following three broad objectives:
- To promote research in Quantitative Finance carried out by researchers at Imperial and by their external partners;
- To promote interdisciplinary education in Quantitative Finance;
- To promote novel interdisciplinary research in Quantitative Finance.
To get involved with the CEQF, do not hesitate to get in touch via CEQF@imperial.ac.uk or by contacing the Co-Directors Robert Kosowski and Johannes Muhle-Karbe.
