Launched in 2024, our hub in San Francisco will strengthen our academic and industry partnerships in areas of mutual interest like AI and health, advanced materials, and biotech. It will also support our growing US alumni network and student recruitment efforts.

Launched in 2024, our Ghana hub builds on established partnerships in medical diagnostics, sustainable cities and entrepreneurship training. It will develop major programmes across West Africa to increase the number, quality and impact of equitable STEMB partnerships with African stakeholders.

Imperial Global India* will drive high-impact science and technology research with academic, industrial and innovation partners to address shared global challenges, nurture a two-way flow of STEMB talent between our two countries and support our growing Indian alumni network.

Opened in 2024, Imperial Global Singapore is our first overseas hub, based at Singapore's CREATE campus. Building on existing partnerships, it undertakes research and innovation projects in collaboration with universities, industry, government, and third-sector partners from across the Singapore ecosystem.

Imperial and the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) have been working together for more than eight decades. This partnership has been strengthened in recent years by a student exchange, enterprise programme and a joint seed fund for early stage research.

African Institute for Mathematical Sciences (AIMS)

The AIMS institutes focus on both basic and applied mathematics, Imperial became an AIMS partner in 2020, enabling our academics to undertake research visits and networking activities at the five AIMS institutes in Cameroon, Ghana, Rwanda, Senegal and South Africa.

University of Ghana

In 2024 Imperial and the University of Ghana signed a five-year partnership, focused on digital diagnostics, innovation and entrepreneurship, public health, environmental sustainability, and vaccine manufacturing. This will see increased mobility of scientists and students between the two universities.

Imperial has a flagship International Research Centre – the only one in the UK and Europe - with France’s CNRS, to expand collaborations focused on transformational science and technology for sustainable development. Collaborations include joint labs in Mathematics and Engineering.

As two of Europe’s leading technical universities with thriving innovation ecosystems, Imperial and TUM collaborate across education, research and innovation on key challenges such as sustainable energy transition, and trustworthy AI. A core focus is on training future scientific leaders.

Indian Institute of Science (IISc Bengaluru)

Imperial College London and the Indian Institute of Science (IISc) launched a partnership in research and education in 2022. This includes a joint seed fund, greater collaboration on research projects, and increased mobility of academics and students.

Imperial and Tsinghua University have a shared ambition to support ground-breaking research and create successful partnerships. Both universities recognise the importance of bringing people together to exchange ideas and collaborate. The two universities signed a strategic partnership in 2017.

Nanyang Technological University (NTU)

Imperial and Nanyang Technology University (NTU) share a close collaboration across research and education, including joint research programmes on the cybersecurity of medical devices and marine decarbonisation under the Singapore CREATE programme.

Imperial and National University of Singapore collaborate across research and education, including joint research in public health, computer software security, AI and chemistry, and student exchange at undergraduate and postgraduate level.

University of Tokyo

Imperial and the University of Tokyo announced a major new strategic relationship for cleantech and energy research in 2023. The partnership builds on major industry-research centres in climate repair and energy systems that both partners have with Hitachi, Ltd.

Institute of Science Tokyo (formerly Tokyo Tech)

Imperial aims to develop a close relationship with the new Institute of Science Tokyo, building on the long-standing research and education partnerships with Tokyo Tech and Tokyo Medical and Dental University which combined to become a comprehensive STEMB institution.

Pending the completion of regulatory formalities to be able to set up our own liaison office, Imperial Global India will initially be managed by a service provider duly appointed by Imperial College London.

Imperial is one of the world's most international universities.  Our global reach is spreading further than ever with collaborations or projects in 192 countries and a new network of global hubs (featured on the above map).

The partnerships featured in the map represent examples of how the international office supports the academic community to build research, education and innovation capacity.
