Lead by Imperial's Enterprise Lab, in partnership with the University of Ghana, Impact Hub Accra and with support from the British Council, hosted a 'Innovation for African Universities Program', better known as the 'Connecting Accra Project' for over two months during the summer of 2022. The initiative aided students in building viable products and services, whilst simultaneously developing transformational business models for the future through technical assistance.
The project provided an opportunity to support and encourage student innovators in both their professional and personal development, and prepare them for facing global challenges. The Connecting Accra Project saw 18 teams, compromising of over 100 students apply their studies and interests to real-world problems and create business solutions to enable success beyond university. The students involved were able to access coaching through advisors, classes, operational support for legal and financial issues, and guidance on grant opportunities. Key initiatives focused on developing businesses in agriculture, finance, healthcare and transport.
