Imperial are seeking to deliver the ‘East to West Link Underpass’ between White City Campus and Latimer Road in line with our planning (s106) agreement, recognising that the underpass would bring significant benefits to users of the campus and wider community. We are continuing to work hard to realise those benefits.
To date, the College have undertaken site investigation works on the Network Rail embankment, and appointed a contractor for the pre-construction phase of the project. Concurrently with this, a number of third-party issues need to be addressed. These include the arrangements for long term operation and maintenance for the underpass, agreement of the associated rights with Network Rail, agreement of land rights over the Latimer Road site and a formal planning consent from two Local Authorities for the underpass itself.
Planning applications for the project were submitted some years ago, however these were deferred until the matter of long-term ownership for the underpass had been clarified. In the interim, it has been agreed with both Local Authorities that fresh planning applications will be submitted, and these are being prepared for submission at the appropriate time.
The programme for construction works is reliant on agreement of the outstanding project issues above, however we are actively working to conclude these issues, and have regular meetings in place with the key stakeholders. As soon as the College is in a position to confirm a programme for the works, we will notfiy the local community and update this page accordingly.
