To everyone in our Imperial community,
This week’s terrible attacks by Hamas against Israel and the escalation of violence in Gaza have been truly shocking.
Like all of you, I share the grief felt all over the world in response to this catastrophic and tragic loss of human life.
I know that for many of you, the events are having a direct personal impact. We are here to support you. Our wellbeing services for staff and students are available for anyone in need of support. In addition, we encourage our students to speak to their personal tutor or supervisor if their ability to study or conduct research is being affected. You can also reach out to them if you would like to be referred to other support services.
I am also particularly concerned to see the rise in community tensions, including here in London.
Imperial stands as one against all forms of violence and hatred. We will not tolerate any antisemitism, Islamophobia, hateful commentary or any other forms of racism, prejudice, abuse or harassment. You can report any incidents you have experienced or witnessed directly to university management or via our Report and Support tool.
We ask all members of our community to show compassion for others at this difficult time.
Best wishes,
Hugh
