Course Overview

This course aims to extend and consolidate the language skills of those who have completed a beginners course in French, such as French 1 at Imperial College, and will enable you to communicate in French with greater confidence. By the end of the course, you will have reached the A1+ standard described in the Common European Framework. You will also learn more about life and culture in French-speaking countries around the world.

Required Previous Experience (if any)

You should have completed French 1 on the after:hours programme or have equivalent experience.

Required Reading Material or Special Equipment Needed (if any)

None required.

On completion of this course you will be better prepared to:

  • to talk about yourself in increasing detail
  • describe your home, work environment and interests
  • express opinions in a increasingly sophisticated ways
  • make comparisons and suggestions and using present, future, past (perfect and imperfect) and conditional tenses.

Teaching and Learning Approach

The teaching and learning approach for this course combines tutor-led instruction, group activities, and independent study supported by individual guidance from the tutor.
