Course Overview

Building on previous knowledge, this course emphasises advanced grammar structures, nuanced vocabulary and complex sentence formation. You will be able to refine your language skills, enhance your fluency in both spoken and written Korean, and to deepen your cultural understanding.

Through structured listening, writing exercises, interactive role-play, and immersive cultural explorations, you will develop the ability to express your ideas more precisely and engage in in-depth conversations on a wide range of topics, including daily life, work, hobbies, current events.

By the end of the course, you will be able to confidently navigate diverse communication settings, construct more sophisticated conversation, and analyse Korean texts with greater comprehension.

You should have completed the imperial after:hours Korean 4 course or have equivalent experience.

None required.

Learning Outcomes

On completion of this course you will be better prepared to:

  • describe past experience using advanced vocabulary for describing events in various contexts
  • use expressions for giving reasons, explanation and announcement
  • make effective use of relative clauses and conjunctions to build complex sentences
  • understand at a deeper level Korean honorifics and speech levels to navigate different social settings appropriately.

Classes are conducted face-to-face in a classroom setting and utilise diverse teaching methods, including presentations, multimedia resources, class discussions, and interactive activities.
