Welcome to this French Level 3 course which is aimed at those with some ability in conversational French. This course will provide you with the opportunity to expand your abilities in French and interact in everyday contexts requiring a simple and direct exchange of information on familiar and routine matters.
Upon completion of this course you should be able to perform at Level A2 of the Common European Framework of Reference for Languages.

These activities will include pair work and groupwork; discovery and formulation of grammatical rules; work with texts and a range of audio-visual material to encourage lively participation.
You will develop skills to respond to and produce an intermediate range of spoken language in familiar everyday contexts. You will respond to and produce short written texts applying your knowledge of A2 level grammar and vocabulary. You will also extend your background knowledge of France and French-speaking countries and demonstrate intercultural awareness in the handling of everyday social interactions in French.
On this course, you will cover the following linguistic structures: revision of basic structures when/if necessary; verbs: present (revision of irregular forms), perfect, imperfect, future, conditional, infinitive, participles; expression of time, cause, consequence, condition; articles, adjectives (possessive, demonstrative); comparative and superlative forms; prepositions; pronouns.
These linguistic structures will be applied to the following topics: social interaction; work; leisure activities; housing; health; food; environment; media; aspects of France and French-speaking countries, everyday life, and culture.
Previous experience: This course is suitable for applicants who have reached a basic conversational level in French, equivalent to a grade C or above in GCSE or equivalent: A1+/A2.1 (CEFR), or those who have completed a Near Beginners French course at Imperial College or equivalent elsewhere.
