The Environmental Research Group is based in the School of Public Health and provides regular analysis and reporting services to a wide range of organisations and individuals including local government, charities, schools, residents and the construction industry.

The group combines air pollution science, toxicology and epidemiology to determine the impacts of air pollution on health and has over 20 years of experience running large urban air quality monitoring networks.

Breathe London

The Breathe London air-quality monitoring network started as a GLA funded project installing 136 air quality sensors around London in 2021. The project has since grown, providing affordable, easy-to-install and maintain air quality sensors to schools, residents, in fact anyone.

There are currently 439 live nodes, increasing the network by 223%. The data collected allows clients to monitor air quality levels against targets locally - and use to inform policy and mitigation.

Imperial Projects support includes:

  • Contractual management and negotiations with GLA, external supplier and over 140 third-party fixed price agreements and work orders
  • Financial management including costing, invoicing and payments
  • Administration and problem solving
