FFS... what am I going to eat?
Got some old veggies lurking in your fridge? A can of beans you don’t know what to do with? It’s time to give those old ingredients an upgrade with Friday Fridge Forage, a new Forage For Sustainability (FFS) initiative by Taste Imperial.
Here’s how it works…
- Once a month on a Friday, we’ll be inviting a lucky group students from one of our student halls to bring in their old ingredients at the start of the day.
- John Cavalli, our new Development and Mobilisation Chef and Google alum, will work behind the scenes to develop a delicious menu using the old ingredients and a few staples on hand.
- The students will be invited back to the kitchen for a tasty, waste-free (and free!) feast at lunch.
For everyone else, we'll share these recipes, food waste tips and more online and in our new sustainable food mailing list. Let’s make this the tastiest initiative on campus. See you around the table!
How to get involved
Starting in November, we'll be reaching out to halls to find some lucky students to be involved. Students will be selected at random. We'll repeat the process every month until we've covered all the student halls. Sign up to be part of Friday Fridge Forage or just to stay in the loop with all things sustainable food at Imperial below and keep an eye on your emails!
Our first stop is Eastside Halls, sign up now to get involved!

Missed out on lunching?
Don’t worry, stay tuned for an exciting competition we have planned. We’ll be asking students to cook their own meal using one of the recipe cards shared! More to come on this soon…
