Paternity Maternity Support Leave Policy (from 1 August 2024)
Paternity/Maternity support leave is available to parents who want to take time off because their partner is having a baby, adopting a child or having a baby through a surrogacy arrangement.
At Imperial, there is no qualifying length of service to be eligible but you must have, or expect to have responsibility for the child's upbringing and must be one of the following:
- the father of the child and/or;
- the husband, civil partner, or partner of the mother (this includes same-sex partners) and/or;
- the partner of the primary adoptive parent and/or;
- the intended parent (if you are having a baby through a surrogacy arrangement) and
- an employee of Imperial College on the date the child is born/placed with you for adoption.
Paternity / maternity support leave will not normally apply to casual workers or agency workers.
