monitoring and sharing

Monitoring your exam using SEW

Once the exam has started, the SEW dashboard offers several options for monitoring students activity, including:

Sharing your exam with other staff

The SEW dashboard for your exam can be shared with colleagues, your colleagues must have logged in to SEW at least once before you can add them to a dashboard.

Sharing the dashboard with staff invigilating the exam will also give them access to the 'Proctor Key'.  The Proctor Key allows invigilators to override blockages that a student may encounter during the exam. For example, if a student’s screen is blocked due to suspicious activity or a restart blockage, the proctor can use the proctor key to clear the alert and allow the student to resume the exam.

restarting and submitting

Allowing a student to restart the exam

Students will not be allowed to restart a SEW session by default. To change this and allow students to restart an exam after closing the SEW environment, invigilators can either:

  • Enter a Proctor Key (see previous section) on the student’s machine when they attempt to restart.
  • Click the three dots icon on the right of an individual students ‘student activity’ screen in the SEW dashboard and select ‘Allow restart’. This will let the student log out of the SEW environment and re-enter the exam.

The proctor key must not be shared with any students.

Submissions during an exam

Students will submit their exam using the test application (such as WISEflow). Exam administrators may wish to check the submissions periodically to ensure that work is being saved. Once the student is ready to close their exam, they can do so by clicking the Exit button.
