Next programme
Our next programme of support for science technicians to undertake professional registration will be running in 2024. In the meantime, technicians wishing to undertake the process independently can attend a free virtual professional registration workshop delivered by the Science Council.
Working Towards Professional Registration is designed to guide Imperial’s technical staff and managers through professional registration with the Science Council. Technicians are a vitally important group but not always well-recognised. Professional registration is an excellent way of demonstrating your knowledge, skills and experience. It shows peers and employers that you are committed to your profession and can bring many personal and professional benefits, whatever stage you are in your career.
Hear more from Imperial technicians who have become professionally registered.
Led by an applicant support mentor from the Science Council, this course will demystify the process of becoming professionally registered and will support participants to:
- identify the appropriate registration status and professional membership body for them
- understand the competencies and CPD requirements required at each level
- develop a written competence report that captures their professional experience
- navigate the online application process
The programme involves attending three compulsory workshops. At the end of the programme, participants who are ready will submit their competence report to the Science Council and have a face-to-face professional registration assessment.
