How can public engagement amplify your research impact? What do funders expect in funding proposals that involve engagement? How do you plan for and evidence impact through engagement?

In this session, you will consider how engaging public audiences can lead to research impact. Through group activities and discussion, you will review case studies and explore criteria for funding of engagement activities. You will also have the opportunity to think about your own research impact by identifying public stakeholders and potential engagement activities, and hear about current funding opportunities and further support at Imperial College London and beyond.

We strongly recommend you attend our Core Engagement masterclass first before attending this masterclass. Please sign up here for the Core Engagement masterclass.

Key areas covered

  • How public engagement fits within Knowledge Exchange and Research Impact
  • How public engagement can maximize the impact of your research; with examples and case studies of successfully funded projects with engagement
  • Why funders think engagement is important and what funders expect in applications
  • How to plan for impact and how to evidence the difference made through your engagement activities

Who is it for?

This session is available to Imperial College staff members and doctoral students who have attended our Core Engagement Masterclass or similar training, or have equivalent experience in carrying out public engagement.

You will find this session particularly relevant if you are involved in developing funding proposals that include public engagement with research.
