Welcome to the Departmental Calendar, to which all Academic and Support Staff may subscribe regardless of whether they use Microsoft- or Mac-based applications.

Subscribe to the Departmental Calendar

To view important dates, major teaching deadlines and other relevant departmental events right from your device, subscribe to the Departmental Calendar by using the appropriate directions below.

Outlook

Open Outlook and go to the calendar view page
In the ‘Home’ ribbon, find ‘Open Calendar’ and select ‘From Internet’
Paste the following link: https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/imperialbioeng%40gmail.com/private-e9e0a857d9fd373243ffbbac91950fba/basic.ics
Select OK
Select Yes
The calendar should now appear under ‘Other Calendars’ in your Outlook’s left navigation bar
To view the calendar in overlay mode, where it will merge with your personal calendar, go to the ‘View’ ribbon and select ‘Overlay’(which may require temporarily deselecting other calendars in your list depending on whether the Overlay button is clickable)
Google

Please first email your google account address to the Dept Secretary, who will give your account access
Log into the Google calendar Web browser version
Under ‘Other Calendars’ on the left navigation bar, select ‘Add by URL’ from the dropdown arrow

Apple Calendar

Open iCal
Click ‘File’
Click ‘new calendar subscription’ from the drop down menu

A window should automatically open, asking you to check details such as the name you want to give to the account
Ensure that you select a frequent auto-refresh rate (e.g. every 5 minutes)
Select OK
Calendar should now appear on your list of calendars. You can toggle whether you want it to appear as needed.

iPhone

Select ‘Mail, Contacts, Calendars’ from the Settings menu
Tap ‘Add Account’ and select ‘Other’
Select ‘Add Subscribed Calendar’
Paste the following link in the server box: https://www.google.com/calendar/ical/imperialbioeng%40gmail.com/private-e9e0a857d9fd373243ffbbac91950fba/basic.ics
Click ‘Next’
Define your preferred settings, including a frequent auto-refresh rate (e.g. every 5 minutes)
Select OK to save the calendar
Calendar should now appear on your list of calendars. You can toggle whether you want it to appear as needed.

Outlook on Mac

First, link Google Calendars to Apply Calendars:
Launch the Apple Calendar application
Click on the "Calendar" menu and choose "Preferences."
Select the "Accounts" tab and press the "+" symbol to add a new account.
Choose "Google" from the "Account Type" drop-down menu. Type in your Google email address and password.
Click "Create." Verify your account details and click on "Create" again.
Check your calendar to make sure that your Google calendar events have populated within the Apple Calendar window.
Second, link Outlook to a shared Apple Calendar:
Launch Outlook for Mac.
Select the "Outlook" program menu and click on "Preferences."
Choose "Sync Services" and check mark "Calendars" then select "On My Computer."
Close the "Sync Services" window.
Finally, move your Google events to the shared calendar:
Launch Apple Calendar and uncheck all of your calendars except for your Google Calendar.
Click on "Edit" and "Select All." Next, click on "Copy."
Uncheck your Google Calendar and look for a "No Category" calendar in the "On My Mac" calendar list.
Check "No Category" and click on "Edit" and then "Paste." This will move your Google Calendar Events to the calendar shared by Outlook and Apple Calendars.
